Pretend to be Nice

Teacher-Moms, on the edge…

It’s so shiny.

Since I made a statement piece for Leah I thought I should make one for Julia too.  This also came from Mandy at Vintage Revivals (I must have been stalking her there for a while…)

Here was the inspiration

foil desk

And here is the piece I started with

jujus desk

It was a kid desk that my mom got at a garage sale about 10 years ago and it made its way through all 3 of my children.  I really had nothing to lose (but time and energy) so I was willing to take the chance if it didn’t work out.

Things went really well.  I used the heavy duty foil and next time I’ll remember that the wrinkleyer (is that a word?) the better.  I also didn’t like the patch work look so I lined up my seams and then…ugh!  The speed bump.  Note to self: DO NOT put a coat of modge podge/glue over the top!  2.5  hours of my life gone forever!

FYI – I didn’t buy fancy paint either.  I just got a small bottle of black glaze and went to town.

Minus the fraction of my life I lost – I LOVE IT!  Really!  If I could get away with it I’d foil the contents of the house.
